Student Mental Health Services

Student Mental Health Services provides assessment, treatment, education, and consultation to support the well being and functioning of Harvard students. Our staff is trained and experienced in dealing with issues specific to university students. We encourage students to schedule an appointment to discuss personal concerns and develop new ways of resolving issues. No concern is too small.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Your medical information is private and will only be shared with others if you give permission. Student Mental Health Services will not share your medical information with parents, faculty, or deans without your consent. See Privacy and Compliance for our full policy.

SERVICES
Student Mental Health Services offers Harvard students comprehensive outpatient care for a wide variety of mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, stress/crisis management, transitional issues, grief, and eating, sexual or relationship concerns.

APPOINTMENTS
Referrals from your primary care physician are not necessary to make an appointment in Student Mental Health Services. Please note that this practice is only available to students. Learn more about how to make an appointment at Student Mental Health Services.

Patients are encouraged to fill out the Patient Information Form before their first session.

URGENT CARE
Urgent care services are available 24 hours a day to students in times of crisis. The After Hours Urgent Care Clinic (AHUCC) in the Smith Campus Center is open nights, weekends, and holidays for students who have concerns or symptoms that cannot wait until regular business hours. Students who feel that they need mental health attention, but are not sure of the urgency of the situation are advised to call first to obtain advice from the clinician on duty at 617-495-5711.

Student Mental Health Services also reserves appointments each weekday to accommodate urgent concerns that arise during regular business hours. Whenever possible, students are encouraged to call ahead to obtain advice from their mental health provider. Students seeking advice for non-urgent concerns should contact their provider during regular business hours.
