Pregnancy Testing and Counseling
Whether you are planning to start a family now, have an unplanned pregnancy, or want to defer pregnancy, you may have questions related to your fertility, medical history, plans for childbearing, prenatal nutrition, or knowledge of birth control. Counseling and advice are available on any subject that concerns you before, during, and after pregnancy by contacting your PCP.
With the availability of over-the-counter pregnancy testing, many women choose to purchase these items and do the urine testing in the privacy of their home. You can also come to HUHS and have your urine tested to determine if you are pregnant.
We recognize that discovering you are pregnant may present you with complicated decisions and conflicting feelings. Pregnancy counseling is available at Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) to discuss your options or to obtain referrals for additional support and information. Counseling sessions are intended to provide you an opportunity to explore your options and feelings regarding your pregnancy. Counselors can provide individual or family counseling and support during pregnancy and in the neonatal period.
We suggest you first contact your primary care provider, who can provide helpful information and resources, and refer you to Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) or Mental Health Services for further information and counseling services.
