Update about Shingrix
Shingrix, the shingles vaccine, is currently available at HUHS by appointment only. Please call the office of your Primary Care Provider (PCP) to make an appointment.
Patients can also use the Shingrix Vaccine Finder at Shingrix.com to locate providers or pharmacies that offer the vaccine. It is recommended that patients call locations before their visit to ensure vaccine is available. Please also check with your insurance provider when accessing outside care to ensure coverage.
What is the shingles vaccination?
Shingles vaccination is the only way to protect against shingles and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), the most common complication from shingles. CDC recommends that healthy adults 50 years and older get two doses of the shingles vaccine called Shingrix (recombinant zoster vaccine), separated by 2 to 6 months, to prevent shingles and the complications from the disease.
