The Endocrinology Department helps patients manage a number of endocrine-related illnesses, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, cholesterol disorders, and hypertension.
Students and Harvard University Group Health Plan members have access to these services.
You must obtain a referral before scheduling an appointment or to receive nutritional counseling related to an endocrine condition or diabetes.
After obtaining a referral, call during regular business hours to make an appointment.
Harvard University Health Services can arrange for an interpreter during your appointment. Please make your request when you schedule your appointment.
The diabetes program is for people at risk for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Your health care team will help you manage your diabetes and support your lifestyle changes. We work with you to achieve blood sugar control and to lower your risk of complications from diabetes. A variety of support programs exist, including:
- Nutritional counseling – meet one-on-one with our nutritionist and learn how to modify your eating habits and physical activity
- Diabetes management classes – meet our diabetes management team (endocrinologist, nurse, and nutritionist) and connect with others who are at-risk and living with the condition in a group setting – contact Debra Small, RN at (617) 496-0778 to pre-register
- Connect with other advocacy groups – American Diabetes Association, Joslin Diabetes Center, National Diabetes Education program, College Diabetes Network (a Harvard student group)
