An Update to Masking at HUHS

Updated March 27, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting moderate levels of respiratory illness in Massachusetts. Due to this decrease in viral activity, health care staff are no longer required to mask during patient interactions. Patients who prefer that their care team remain masked during exams, may let them know when they enter the room.

As of January 11, 2024

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting elevated and increasing levels of respiratory illness, including flu, COVID-19, and RSV. Due to this high viral activity and to mitigate/reduce transmission, health care staff throughout Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) will wear a face mask during patient interactions.

We strongly suggest that all patients voluntarily wear a face mask and will continue to supply masks upon entry for those who choose to wear them.

Those seeking care who have respiratory illness symptoms, a known COVID-19 exposure, or who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be required to wear a mask when entering HUHS.

Please protect yourself, your loved ones, and the greater Harvard community by reducing your risk of contracting respiratory illness. Wear a high-quality face mask in crowded indoor settings, practice appropriate hand hygiene, and test if you feel unwell.
