We Accept the Following Insurance Plans
Students and Dependents

Can I come here?

Students who pay the Student Health Fee are able to receive care at HUHS. Students who do not pay the Student Health Fee cannot receive care at HUHS.

What’s covered?

All HUHS services are available to students. However, Obstetrics & Gynecology care is billed through Mount Auburn Hospital, and Laboratory services are billed through Quest Diagnostics.

Do I need a referral?

No, students do not need a referral to come to HUHS. Students who have a primary care doctor or pediatrician at home can still come to HUHS for care.

If a student waives the Student Health Insurance Plan, the student should contact their own primary care physician if they need services outside of HUHS.

Will I be responsible for co-pays?

There are no copays for services covered under the Student Health Fee at HUHS.

What is the Student Health Program?

The Harvard University Student Health Program (HUSHP) is comprised of the Student Health Fee and the Student Health Insurance Plan. Except in very limited circumstances, all Harvard students are subject to the Student Health Fee, which means they are able to receive care at HUHS. All Harvard students are automatically enrolled in HUSHP and assigned a health care team at HUHS and can receive care at HUHS; dependents may also be enrolled. The Student Health Insurance Plan is designed to provide coverage for services that HUHS does not provide (e.g., ambulance, gynecological services, hospitalizations, laboratory tests, and referrals to specialists outside of HUHS). Students with other insurance may waive the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Faculty and Staff and Dependents

Harvard University Group Health Plan (HUGHP) is exclusively available to faculty, staff, and their dependents. These members may choose an HUHS primary care physician and can be seen at any of the three convenient HUHS locations. Visit the HUGHP website for more information.

Harvard University Group Health Plan members who do not have an HUHS primary care physician can only receive urgent care at HUHS.

Members of the University-sponsored High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) may choose an HUHS primary care physician.

Retirees

Harvard retirees and their dependents who have a primary care physician at an HUHS Clinic immediately prior to enrolling in the Harvard-sponsored Medex or HPHC Medicare Enhance retiree health plan are welcome to continue receiving care on campus at HUHS.

Affiliates

Postdoctoral fellows may be eligible for insurance; find out more on the HUSHP website. Postdoctoral fellows who have opted not to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan may be seen for urgent care services on a fee-for-service basis.
