Overview

Harvard University Health Services is committed to supporting the health and wellness needs of our LGBTQ+ community. We offer a number of services for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff around matters such as:

Primary Care (Internal Medicine) Services

  • Comprehensive primary and gender-affirming care
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
  • HIV oral* pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)
  • Gender-affirming hormone therapy
  • Consultation for referral for gender-affirming surgery

* HUHS does not offer injectable PrEP

Counseling and Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for Students

  • Individual Therapy: One-on-one counseling sessions can be scheduled with an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
  • Group Support: Participate in our safe and supportive groups and workshops. Learn about CAMHS groups and workshops.
  • Peer Support: Contact Peer Counseling is a non-judgmental and confidential counseling service for Harvard undergraduates. Topics may include any issue, including LGBTQ+ identities, all genders, sexes, sexualities, and relationships.

Behavioral Health (BH) for Faculty, Staff, and their Dependents

  • Individual Therapy: One-on-one counseling sessions can be scheduled with an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.

Member Services

The Harvard University Student Health Insurance Plan covers gender-affirming services including, but not limited to, hormone therapy, top surgery (mastectomy), breast augmentation, and genital surgery for transgender and gender-diverse individuals when gender identity differs from assigned sex at birth.
